Stewardship Manager

Oakland University is looking to hire a Stewardship Manager.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Design and update stewardship programs, products and services to meet the needs of the campaign
  • Development and Alumni Relations, and the Office of the President
  • Collaborate with front line fundraisers, unit leadership, UCM, donor relations, financial aid, and DAR philanthropy compliance and budget manager to successfully steward gifts to Oakland University through vehicles including written correspondence, formal naming recognition and all published forms of donor honor rolls
  • Maintain and provide reports to all constituents about the use of philanthropic contributions and endowments
  • Coordinate stewardship communication on behalf of Development and Alumni Relations, OU Foundation and the Office of the President


  • Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in stewardship, donor relations, and/or development within a higher education environment or complex organization
  • Thorough working knowledge and understanding of stewardship concepts and practices
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills to build and maintain effective working relationships at all organizational levels and with outside constituents
  • Comprehensive analytical and critical thinking skills, including creative and effective decision-making and problem identification and resolution. Proficiency in business applications, specifically Excel
