Senior Director of Development

Company: Cranbrook Academy of Art and Art Museum
Date Posted: January 24, 2018

Organization Address:

39221 Woodward Ave, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, 48303, United States

Position Description:

Cranbrook is a magical place. It is one of the world's leading centers of art, design, science and education.  Comprised of a Pre-K through 12 independent college preparatory school, a graduate Academy of Art, a contemporary Art Museum, a natural history museum, and a historic House and Gardens, Cranbrook welcomes more than 300,000 visitors and students to its campus each year, engaging learners of all ages and interests in its exceptional educational programs and experiences.

As a unique educational institution, Cranbrook seeks to draw art, science and education together in ways that foster an ability to create something new and original. Cranbrook is a diverse, sustainable community where education is prized, the human spirit is nurtured, and innovation and creativity are valued. Cranbrook can, and does, challenge minds and transform lives.

The Senior Director of Development for the Cranbrook Academy of Art and Art Museum will lead fundraising for one of the top graduate and design schools in the U.S and its integral museum partner. The Cranbrook Academy of Art has blazed a bold trail through art and design since its founding. Known as the cradle of American modernism, it continues to have a significant impact on the world of art, architecture, and design completely disproportionate to its size. With its nationally notable exhibitions and its expanding educational and outreach programs, the Cranbrook Art Museum provides Academy students and the public at large with a direct experience into modern and contemporary art, architecture, and design, and promotes an understanding of their relevance and contribution to society.

This is an extraordinary time to be at Cranbrook.  Over the last several years, leadership has determined how best to realize its future.  With the arrival of a new Chief Advancement Officer, a new Master Plan document and institutional priorities identified, specific fundraising strategies are being mapped out and initiated over the next few years.
