The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) exists to foster the development and growth of fundraising professionals, to preserve and enhance philanthropy and volunteerism, and to promote the highest ethical standards in the fundraising profession. The Greater Detroit Chapter of AFP sponsors monthly educational programs and special events throughout the year including Professional Advancement Day, Diversity Day, and National Philanthropy Day, the chapter’s premier event held annually in November for more than 650 nonprofit and community leaders. The chapter, of approximately 240 members, also offers valuable career development and networking opportunities for local fundraising professionals.

Partnership Opportunities

Internationally, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) represents nearly 28,000 members in more than 205 chapters throughout the world, working to advance philanthropy through education, training, mentoring, research, credentialing, and advocacy. The AFP Greater Detroit Chapter’s membership is 240+ strong and collaborates annually with organizations such as Michigan Nonprofit Association and Crain’s Detroit Business to deliver quality, ethical fund raising instruction and information to southeast Michigan professionals.

National Philanthropy Day

National Philanthropy Day is the Chapter’s premier annual event that honors to the outstanding contributions of philanthropists, distinguished volunteers, and those individuals active in nonprofits throughout the Southeastern Michigan community.
