Organization's Overview: Detroit Police Athletic League’s mission, in partnership with the Detroit Police Department and 1,500 trained, adult volunteers, is to build character in 11,000 low-income, at-risk, disadvantaged Detroit youth (ages 4-19) through athletic and leadership programs. The organization provides year-round activities in 11 different sports, from football and cheer to golf and lacrosse. PAL centers its work on three Global Goals for youth: 1.) Participants of high character (Respect, Responsibility, Appreciation of Diversity, Teamwork and Leadership); 2.) Healthy and active youth (a minimum of one hour of activity at least five times a week); 3.) The Michigan Suburbs Alliance is a 12-year old nonprofit in metro Detroit dedicated to increasing prosperity, sustainability and equity throughout the region, predominantly through programs that foster intergovernmental cooperation. We are currently restructuring to focus increasingly on metropolitan policy research and advocacy and seek to increase and diversify our sources of funding as part of that transition. The Michigan Suburbs Alliance is looking for an experienced development professional to design and implement a new corporate and major donor giving program and to oversee a robust grant fundraising strategy. We would like to increase our annual $1.5M budget to $2M+, generating at least $400,000 annually in unrestricted funds and substantively increasing grants revenue. This is a full-timed salaried position. Salaried employees are eligible for family health care coverage, retirement savings matching and a telecommunications allowance.
